Air bp: The Aviation Fuel Business Everyone Wants to Work With
A flat-illustration animated film for Air bp, BP's aviation fuel business, moving from a hand-drawn 'We are BP' title card through staff testimonials and a crowd of character illustrations to a closing line: the aviation fuel business that everyone wants to work with.
The Brief
Made in the summer of 2011, Air bp wanted a film that showed the importance of company character, highlighting the three key characteristics that make them one of the best aviation fuel providers in the market.
What Cumi Created
A team of animators turned the project around in a short amount of time, using Flash and Photoshop to create the animation and compositing it all together in After Effects. The film opens on a hand-drawn whiteboard-style title card, 'We are BP', before moving into a run of flat, graphic character illustrations, among them a quoted line, 'A world class operator', set beside a portrait of a worker in orange overalls. A wide crowd scene brings a whole cast of these characters together, before the film closes on the Air bp logo beside a vapour-trail heart drawn in the sky and its own strapline: the aviation fuel business that everyone wants to work with. The finished film was translated into 8 different languages to go around the key places Air bp operates.
