A title sequence and graphic package for Commando, a documentary following 50 recruits to the Royal Marines over their 32-week training period before they head off to Afghanistan, directed by Chris Terrill. Cumi designed the title sequence in the style of the old "Commando" comic books, an idea inspired directly by the director.

The Brief

Commando follows 50 recruits to the Royal Marines over their 32-week training period before they head off to Afghanistan. Starting from the train on which they arrive, the film follows them as they learn all manner of things — from the obvious, such as how to kill someone with your thumb, through to the less obvious, such as how to iron, shave and shower yourself. Cumi designed the title sequence in the style of the old "Commando" comic books, as inspired by director Chris Terrill.

The Film

Fifty recruits. Thirty-two weeks. One front line.
