Novartis: Malaria Power of One
A short animated film raising awareness of Novartis' Power of One campaign, a global digital fundraising partnership with Malaria No More enabling the public to donate malaria treatments for children in Africa.

The Brief
Cumi was brought in by Brands At Work to animate a small film boosting awareness of Novartis' Power of One campaign. In 2013, Novartis joined forces with Malaria No More on Power of One, a global digital fundraising campaign enabling the public to donate malaria treatments for children in Africa; every dollar donated buys and delivers a full treatment course for a child with malaria. The objective was to help Zambia, the first country to benefit from Power of One, close its treatment gap by 2015.

What Cumi Created
Novartis pledged to match up to 1 million publicly-funded treatments every year through 2015, doubling the impact of Power of One donations. The film's job was to make that pledge, and the act of donating itself, feel immediate and human rather than abstract.
Process & Approach
By November 2014, ahead of the three-year goal, Malaria No More and Novartis announced enough funds had been raised to deliver three million antimalarial treatments for children in Zambia. Novartis associates from 42 countries also rallied behind Power of One, funding close to 500,000 treatments for Zambia, with the campaign going on to benefit patients in Kenya too, where 200,000 treatments were delivered.
