HTB Student Alpha: Animations
Cumi brought to life 4 tales (true life stories) to integrate into the Student Alpha course held at St Paul's Onslow Square in 2009: The Tale of Blondin, My Beloved Son, The Two Friends, and Starfish. Cumi designed and animated the series of 4 animations, using traditional hand-drawing techniques to bring the characters to life.
Episode One: The Tale of Blondin
(2min 12sec) The true story of Jean-François Gravelet (aka Blondin), born 28 February 1824, a famous tightrope walker who won fame and fortune crossing the gorge below Niagara Falls on a tightrope 1,100 feet long, 3¼ inches in diameter, 160 feet above the water. Illustrates how anyone can say they trust — but only those who truly believe it will dare put their lives in another's hands.
Episode Two: My Beloved Son
(1min 56sec) The story of Baron Fitzgerald, a wealthy man who loved his son dearly, yet after his son dies does something rather unusual with his Last Will and Testament.
Episode Three: The Two Friends
(1min 31sec) From the talk 'Why Did Jesus Die?' — a reminder that God did not just leave us to sort ourselves out, but sent his Son to take our place and pay the penalty himself.
Episode Four: Starfish
(1min 15sec) A man finds a young boy trying to save thousands of starfish stranded and dying in the heat of the sun — illustrating that it's better to make a difference to one person's life (or starfish) than not to bother at all.
