TVAP: Christmas Card
A short hand-drawn Christmas card animation Cumi made for the Thames Valley Adventure Playground charity, inspired by one of the children's own drawings: a snowman in a bow-tie and hat is drawn, comes to life, and waves in a hand-lettered seasonal message.
The Brief
Since 1982 the Thames Valley Adventure Playground has provided a chance for children and adults with all types of special need to enjoy the fun, freedom and friendship afforded by the opportunity to play and share experiences in a safe and stimulating environment, with users travelling from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, London and beyond: wheelchair-accessible roundabouts and swings, elevated walkways allowing someone with profound and multiple problems to enjoy the excitement of 'climbing' trees, and multi-sensory rooms to stimulate and relax, with specially-trained staff to provide help and support. For this Christmas, Cumi created a short animation that TVAP could send out to the parents of the children they serve.
What Cumi Created
The animation was inspired and based on one of the children's own drawings from the adventure playground. A hand draws a snowman, complete with yellow hat, green scarf and a wrapped gift, in a few simple pen strokes. The snowman then comes to life, waving his hat and gift in the air, before the film closes on its own hand-lettered message: "With best wishes for Christmas and a very happy 2012."
