HSBC New Normal
An opening film for HSBC's Global Connectivity, Group Chief Executive's Roadshow 2010, blending real financial press and market data with motion graphics around the idea of a connected, interlinked world.

The Brief
The HSBC Global Connectivity, Group Chief Executive's Roadshow 2010 is a large event where the heads of HSBC come together to discuss all aspects of their business, including the global economy and changing financial climates. This film was the opener to one of the conference workshops and set the scene for the speaker. The aims of this project were to work with and support the 2010 conference brand and communicate aspects of where the financial market is and the attitude the 'winners' would need to have to move forward.
What Cumi Created
Iconography familiar to financial heads needed to be incorporated so that the film communicated in a language they understand. It needed a feeling of connectedness, that everything is interlinked and not isolated, and a global feel, hence the use of different newspapers and magazines from around the world: the Financial Times, the Economist's "Debt: The Biggest Bill in History" cover, Investors Chronicle and an ETFX Russell 2000 fund page. From there the film moves into a hand-drawn "The New Normal" concept diagram and a growing bar chart topped with UK, US and EU flags, a laptop and mobile phone each showing a stylised splash screen over a red and blue growth line graph, a map pin marking Shanghai and Hangzhou, and a "The Winner" magazine cover ("Building new teams of the future"), before closing on a red, rotating 3D globe tracking connecting routes into New York and Tegucigalpa.
